BtB 2024 - Challenge of the Highpriest

  • In Freibereich gibt es bei mir kurzzeitige Miniruckler, ist aber gut spielbar. Ich selbst bin gerade am produzieren von Giftpfeilen in Teil 3, The Caves.

    Vielleicht ein paar Tipps:
    - Eine nVidia 1050 TI unter win 10 nehmen.
    - Grundeinstellungen aufrufen. F/X (Schatten - / Dunstberechnungen) abschalten. Mit Hardwarebeschleunigung experimentieren. Ggfls. als "im Fenster" (window) das Spiel spielen.
    - Wenn der Gfx-Treiber Grundeinstellungen für Spiele kann, tr4.exe einstellen.

    Es bringt kaum was wenn ich jetzt The Caves hier einstelle weil Lara muß wieder in die großen Freibereiche zurück und hat da noch reichlich zu tun.

    Ein uff-aha-Knaller mit zum Schluß reichlich Endgegnern. Er bot alles perfekt was Lara ausmacht. Überwiegend war das Spiel auch sehr gut spielbar gewesen.
    Weniger schön waren allerdings ziemlich dunkle Gänge zwischen den Orten, teilweise fehlenden Hinweisen (ich denke z.B. an den Backofen). In The Caves wäre es erheblich besser gewesen einen Hinweis extra einzufügen das man erstmal nach links zu den Containern hin sollte.

    Ansonsten: Perfekt


  • Michael Mann, congratulations on finishing this game.

    I have been playing this game for the last few hours, and it is just as interesting and good as the others I played this week. It is necessary to look everywhere and do trials/reloads with the limited ammo crossbow to shoot vases, etc. and get pickups. I have my suspicions as to who built this and if I am right, it is one of the top builders who had one of the most successful solo customlevels of the last 4 years.

    I never had any screen/lag issues so far (Windows 10/Nvidia desktop).

  • 1. Is it possible to produce poisoned arrows before finding the torch?

    2. I found a bug glitch in this game (oasis-bridge level). The outside bowl automatically ignites when Lara approaches it, when presumably you need the lit torch. This is outside a temple where there is a nearby high jumpswitch. I reloaded the game to avoid igniting that bowl without the torch or else the game may fail. This is typical of a problem in a previous level by the builder I am guessing did this level.

  • What you find with the torch is to produce explosive arrows. For poisoning arrows you need a dark energy box. This box can be found without a torch.

    I have the bug (and another crash issue) reported yesterday to the BtB 2024-Team. If anybody plays this game also: Ingnite both bowls near the JS only with a torch (and don't jump onto the two blocks to ignite the right bowl).

  • Thanks for the info. I have not yet found a dark energy box, but I have used an explosive arrow to get pickups.

    I hope I light the right bowl correctly, but I won't get to that for some time since I just dropped into the hole after burning the ropes to release the 3 boulders.

    I assume there is a lasersight in this game to shoot the gong in the trapdoors/crocodiles room.

    Did you find any secrets in level 4 (Temple of the High Priestess)? EDIT: Please answer only YES or NO and the count number. I am still playing with lots to go, and do not want to know what the secrets are at this time. Thank you.

    This game is incredibly long. It certainly ignored the rule of approximately 1 hour net in length. The builder wanted to build his "dream" Egypt level and used BtB to do it in order to get the textures, etc.

    Also, the builder didn't provide enough tree supplies to make poisoned arrows. I hope the weapons ammo is sufficient.

  • Nad, good luck in playing. The levels are split with lots of backtracking (e.g. village-first visit, village-second visit, etc.). Thus, the secret counts are cumulative for each level (not visit). The way one plays the game will determine the secret sequence (the game is not exactly linear except with objectives. You need to look everywhere for pickups because they are limited in this game and you need to produce poisened and explosive arrows with different pickups like flares, grenades, normal arrows and tree fruit. Thus, this game cannot be played by a speed run or you would be unable to finish in defeating powerful enemies (there are no pistols and only limited weapons ammo).

    I am currently in level 4 and missing 2 of the 10 secrets. There is no going back from level 4 to earlier levels.

    I found 8 secrets so far: 3 secrets in the oasis-village level, 1 secret in the oasis-bridge level, and 4 secrets in the oasis-caves level. Without a walkthrough you will need to explore with lots of backtracking. Level 4 starts after you use the ankh which is the last object found in the first 3 levels.

    I suspect my 2 missing secrets may be in the first 3 levels, but I looked everywhere. I still have lots of exploration in 2 giant rooms in level 4 (so they could be there).

  • Secrets update: LoreRaider just posted a video walkthrough to this game 15 minutes ago. The secrets count is:

    Oasis village - 3

    Oasis bridge - 1

    Oasis caves - 5

    Temple of the High Priests - 1

    Thus, I am missing 1 secret from before level 4. I did not look at this video to see where it is, but it is possible to go back for most secrets from before the end of level 2 (bridge) where the ankh is used.

  • Johna will return to stand forever in the corner of a rooftop in the camel village. He doesn't do anything again. Note: if Johna doesn't come back then you have a bug (he can get stuck in the gate that is opened - I reloaded and opened the gate again and he ran through).

    You have a long way to go before you get the shovel (which is in 2 parts as always).

    Note that the game crashes to the desktop when using the scales the first time (savegame bug - do not save near the scales). If it crashes, then start a new game and load a savegame from before using the scales).

    If a bowl automatically gets fire without using the torch then you have a bug (reload and use the torch when you have it).

    Lara can easily get stuck in walls, etc.
